Birmingham City have found their replacement for Alex McLeish, hiring former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton to lead the club in the Championship this season.

Hughton, who was sacked by Newcastle in December, takes over immediately at St. Andrew’s looking to repeat his promotion season from 2009 when he brought Newcastle back to the top flight of English football one season after being relegated. In a statement issued by the club, acting Birmingham chairman Peter Pannu praised Hughton.
The statement also said that Pannu impressed by Hughton’s vision and footballing theories of garnering youth and playing attractive football.
