According to Giuseppe Rossi's agent the Villareal striker will not be moving to Barcelona despite rumors for weeks that the deal was nearly done. Villareal head coach Juan Carlos Garrido already admitted that they would have to sell Rossi if a good offer came in and it appeared as if it did from Barcelona, but the striker who scored 18 La Liga goals for the Yellow Submarine will not be moving to the defending league and UEFA Champions League champions.
Giuseppe Rossi Transfer To Barcelona “Definitely Off”
"It's a deal that is definitely off," Rossi's agent, Federico Pastorello, told Sky Sport 24 on Thursday. "We are now evaluating a number of options for Rossi's future, but we can't rule out the possibility that he could remain at Villarreal. How much will he cost? His valuation is that of a top player."
What changed in recent weeks is still unclear. Villareal’s valuation of Rossi might have been more than Barcelona thought he was worth or Barcelona may have allocated the money that would have gone in the Rossi deal to Alexis Sanchez, who it appears as if they are on the verge of signing from Udinese.
Rossi will not be short on options to move. He was coveted not just by Barcelona, but by Tottenham Hotspur and several clubs in Italy, the country for whom he plays internationally.
