It's 2-1 Switzerland at halftime and it would be difficult to say it hasn't been deserved. England have been something close to abject, and their issues were compounded when Ashley Cole was forced off with an ankle injury midway through the half after taking a nasty kick to the bottom of the foot courtesy of Valon Behrami. Leighton Baines replaces him - the injury doesn't look terribly serious, however.
England Vs. Switzerland: Ashley Cole Injury, Tranquilla Barnetta Goals Dominate First Half
Anyway, soon after Cole was forced off, a ridiculous flurry of goals put Switzerland ahead 2-1. England weren't playing particularly well, but the two goals from the visitors were both the result of faintly ludicrous errors from the defence and Joe Hart. Twice Tranquillo Barnetta has scored straight off a free kick, once at his far post and once (far more hilariously) at the near post. Frank Lampard scored from the penalty shot shortly thereafter, but that wasn't enough to prevent the home fans from booing England as the half ended. The hosts have some real issues here - they're getting quite thoroughly outplayed.
