Despite bids from Chelsea of £22m and £27m, Tottenham have refused to sell Luka Modric and now they have denied his transfer request

    Tottenham Rejects Luka Modric Transfer Request

    “We know Luka wants to leave,” Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said. “Writing it down on a piece of paper doesn’t make much difference to our stance.”

    Modric and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy are in a showdown right now as Modric claims Levy promised him a year ago to consider any offers from bigger clubs. Levy isn’t doing that now, instead shooting down every offer that comes in. Modric went with Spurs on their preseason tour of South Africa and will continue to train and play with the team in preparation for the upcoming season, but that is hardly the end of Chelsea’s pursuit.

    Tottenham’s Luka Modric Hands In Transfer Request

    Not long after Chelsea expressed interest and Modric said that he would be open to a move, the Blues put in a £22 million bid for Modric. Tottenham rejected the bid out of hand and deemed the low offer to be insulting for a player of Modric’s quality. The bid was upped to £27 million, but to Modric’s dismay, Spurs said no once again and Levy made it clear again that he has no intent to sell Modric.

    After a meeting with Modric in which Levy told the Croatian that he would not be sold, Modric returned to training with the team and even made the trip to South Africa for a preseason tour. Even so, Modric has continued to push for a move with the transfer request being the latest example.
