It's a tough ask for Paraguay today. The tough-tackling side will have to somehow beat new favourites Brazil in their Copa America quarterfinal match, and it's not the same Brazil side that they held to a 2-2 draw in the group stages. Well, it is, but they're apparently good again, and that should worry Paraguay and their fans, because for all of huge effort and hard work, Paraguay are... less of a good team, especially with Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz missing through a knee problem.
Copa America 2011 Quarterfinals, Brazil Vs. Paraguay: Paraguay Lineup
Lucas Barrios will be the focal point of the underdog's play. The Borussia Dortmund striker can and will score if given the opportunity, so one imagines that the rest of the team will be utterly devoted to giving the talented hitman as much service in the box as humanly possible - and hoping to hold out against a dangerous Brazil attack at the same time. Can Paraguay come up with a win? Well, stranger things have happened, but the gulf between these two sides is significantly higher than the gap between (an admittedly Edinson Cavani-less) Uruguay and Argentina in their quarterfinal yesterday.
Paraguay (4-4-2): Justo Villar; Dario Verón, Aureliano Torres, Paulo Da Silva, Antolín Alcaraz; Cristian Riveros, Víctor Cáceres, Enrique Vera, Marcelo Estigarribia; Lucas Barrios, Nélson Haedo Váldez.
