The Copa America quarterfinal between Brazil and Paraguay is underway at the Ciudad de La Plata, referee Sergio Pezzotta blowing his whistle to get us started. 50,000 plus fans let lose their lungs as Paraguay kick off, and it doesn't take long for them to throw themselves forward, pressing Brazil's back line and midfield. It also doesn't take long for there to be some sort of injury - the clock read 1:17 when the Pezzotta brought the game to a halt for an apparent head injury to Paraguay forward Lucas Barrios, who then gets up looking rather sheepish about the whole affair.
Copa America 2011 Quarterfinals, Brazil Vs. Paraguay: Match Underway
It's Brazil who have the first shot of the match, with Ramires picking up a bobbling ball, running through the Paraguay midfield, and unleashing a right-footed effort that ended up going well over the crossbar. Justo Villar had it covered all the way anyway. Paraguay respond by sending a silly 40 yard shot from Marcelo Estigarribia well wide. Odd.
