You know how it is. You’ve just been released by League Two Macclesfield Town, and you’re struggling to come up with ideas for what to do next as a young professional trying to make it in the game. The obvious answer would be to compile a DVD, knock on Alex Ferguson’s door, and ask him what he thinks.
Winger Deemed Not Good Enough For League Two Bags Manchester United Trial
Well, perhaps not that obvious. But that's exactly what Max Lonsdale did - and after Ferguson promised that somebody at the club would take a look at it, the young winger was rewarded with a trial, extended from one week to two, and has featured in Manchester United reserve games.
Whether he’ll actually be signed up by the Old Trafford club is debatable, but the publicity can’t hurt, and will probably help him get a contract at some club or other. Clearly one of the reserve team coaches saw something in him, and he looks a fairly tidy player from the video in question, which you can view here.
Clearly, there’s hope for us all yet. Unless we work with the Macclesfield Town youth team.
