Soony Saad, the University of Michigan forward who scored 19 goals during his freshman season, has signed a Generation adidas contract with MLS and will be allocated via weighted lottery later this week. Any number of teams will likely enter the lottery and their chances of winning it will be determined based on their record over the past 30 regular-season games and most recent postseason.
Saad was among the best players in college during the 2010 season and had reportedly been entertaining offers to play in Europe. His 19 goals were a Michigan record, were the second highest total in the nation and included six game-winners. He also had five assists in 24 matches, giving him 43 points, which were also second most in the nation.
