Copa America 2011, Mexico Vs. Chile: Arturo Vidal Heads Home Go-Ahead Goal

Mexico entered their Copa America opener against Chile as heavy underdogs. They were playing their under-22 squad against a team that qualified for the knockout stages in last summer's World Cup, but all the way to the 66th minute they were in control. They had themselves a 1-0 lead and Chile looked like they might be able to hold off the Chileans. That is until Esteban Paredes scored to level the match and now Arturo Vidal has nodded home the go-ahead goal on a corner kick to complete the Chile comeback.

As soon as Paredes scored to level the match, the entire stadium was lifted. The estimated 8,000 Chileans who made the trip across the border to Argentina lit up and filled the stadium with noise and that fed Chile, who pushed for the go-ahead goal as soon as they had their equalizer. It came in the 72nd minute when Chile earned themselves a corner kick. The ball was driven in hard at the top of the six-yard box and Vidal came flying in from the backside to the nearside with a perfect header right into the side netting. The stadium erupted, a gigantic Chile flag covered the supporters of an entire end of the stadium and Mexico looked sunk.
