Danish centre half Simon Kjaer has left Wolfsburg for Roma on a one-year loan, according to a release on Wolfsburg's official site. Kjaer had only been with the Bundesliga outfit for one season, having previously plied his trade with Palermo - so he's no stranger to the Serie A or Italy and should instantly be a good fit for the Roma defence that's been rather weakened by the transfer of Philippe Mexes to AC Milan, especially in the silly blonde hair category.

Danish defender Simon Kjaer has moved to Roma after a disappointing season with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.
Kjaer was of course part of Wolfsburg’s ill-fated attempt to turn themselves into a major force by spending big in the summer of 2010/11. It didn’t work out very well, with the club flirting with relegation all year, and Kjaer was part of that disappointment, failing to impress in his time in Germany despite making 35 league starts, scoring a solitary goal in the process. With Roma hoping a move back to Italy turns him into the player he was with Palermo and Wolfsburg probably happy to be rid of their high-price investment, the move looks like a good deal for both teams. The loan fee is believed to be €2M with an option to buy for around €7M.
