Turns out Lionel Messi is good at football, and so is Cesc Fabregas. Barcelona were happily dismantling ten-man Porto in the European Super Cup (the friendly between the defending Champions League and Europa League champions at the beginning of each season), and former Arsenal captain Fabregas was deployed as a substitute in the 80th minute. It wouldn't take long before he scored a very pretty goal:

That’s a really nice piece of play by Messi to spot Fabregas’s run from deep and meet it with a perfect pass, all capped off by a wonderful display of finishing - calmness personified by Fabregas as he met the ball with his chest and then guided it past poor Helton.
Anyway, if Barcelona’s last two friendlies (a 5-0 win over Napoli and now a 2-0 triumph against Porto) are any indication, they’re going to remain the team to beat in Europe. The additions of Alexis Sanchez and Fabregas as squad depth certainly don’t hurt their chances much...
