As if a 5-1 loss at White Hart Lane to former Champions League rivals Manchester City wasn't enough to ruin Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp's day, it turns out that Rafael van der Vaart's departure late in the match was due to a hamstring tear rather than just him being lazy (sometimes it's hard to tell the difference). with the score at 4-1, the Dutch midfielder was stretching for a long ball played forward but failed to get up immediately, eventually rising to his feet and hobbling off the pitch and straight down the tunnel, pausing only to kick a ball angrily, which seems a silly thing to do when you've just injured your leg.
Rafael Van Der Vaart Tears Hamstring
Rafael van der Vaart wandered off injured in the second half of the match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on Sunday. Turns out that that’s because he’s torn a hamstring.

Anyway, Redknapp confirmed that van der Vaart has managed to tear a hamstring, and that means he’ll probably be out of action for at least a few weeks. Spurs are fortunate in that the match comes just before an international break, so he’ll probably only miss two or three league matches, but that’s still probably more games without the 28-year-old than they can afford
