The middle of this week features a nearly complete slate of fixtures in the Mexican Primera. Both Santos Laguna and Monarcas Morelia are playing in the CONCACAF Champions League while Chivas Guadalajara are playing FC Barcelona in a friendly, but there are a total of 12 teams in action in six games on Wednesday night. UNAM Pumas vs. Monterrey is almost certainly the highlight of the night, while Club America vs. Estudiantes Tecos in the early match should also be worth watching.

Estudiantes Tecos vs. Club America

Club America have four points from their first two games, but they’ve looked lackluster in both of those matches. Tecos are looking okay, but lost both of their opening two games by one goal on the road. Could an upset potentially be brewing here? America should be able to beat Tecos, but they also should have defeated Toluca when they went down to ten men on the weekend.
Pumas UNAM vs. Monterrey

The Rayados are already off to a solid start, winning both of their first two games. They've done this without having strikers Humberto Suazo and Aldo de Nigris available in both matches, which is impressive. Suazo came back to go 90 on the weekend, though, and he looks fit and in form even though he didn't score a goal. De Nigris has just come back from a knee injury and should be on the bench Wednesday night. Look for him to relieve Suazo at some point in the game as Victor Manuel Vucetich keeps Saturday's fixture in mind.
Pumas are a bit short-handed with a number of senior players having departed and a couple of players at the Under-20 World Cup, but it hasn’t mattered so far. They have six points from two matches, and it doesn’t appear as if their thin and inexperienced squad is going to cause them any problems this year. The youth is extremely talented, while the veterans that remain are fit and in form.
Both Vucetich and Guillermo Vasquez are very tactically astute managers who have shown a willingness to change their starting XI and their formation both from game to game and in the middle of a game. Wednesday night’s match could be a fantastic tactical battle.
