Eljero Elia In Turin For Medical Ahead Of Move To Juventus

Eljero Elia has left the Dutch national team and is in Italy for a medical with Juventus, according to a statement released by his club, Hamburg SV. The move from the Bundesliga to the Old Lady has been rumored for some time, but then Galatasaray, who have invested heavily this summer in an attempt to reclaim the Turkish Super Lig title, stepped in to the race. But Elia, who spoke out about his fears of racism in Italy, preferred to go to the Premier League. Soon it was rumored that Fulham were candidates for his signature as well.

But somehow, Juve -- or perhaps a few added monetary incentives -- must have convinced the Dutch international that Serie A was the best place for him to thrive, and a move to Turin seems imminent. Yet despite having brought in quite a few decent names since the summer ended, the bianconeri haven’t landed that one show-stopping, attention-grabbing top player. And a 24-year-old winger from HSV ain’t him.
