Diego Lugano Leaves Fenerbahce, Officially Signs With PSG

Paris Saint-Germain continue their big spending ways, snapping up Uruguayan center back Diego Lugano from Fenerbahce for an estimated €3 million. The defender spent five seasons with the Turkish giants, establishing himself as a stalwart in their defense. His performances with Uruguay, particularly as part of the Copa America winning squad this summer, caught the attention of many clubs outside Turkey. Juventus and Arsenal were both interested, but in the end it was PSG who managed to add them to their roster of international stars.

While the Ligue Un side continues to add glitz and glamor, Fenerbahce’s shine is about as bright as coal right now. After accusations of match fixing, and their removal from the Champions League, players have been hopping flights out of Istanbul as quickly as they can book them. Should PSG want any other pretty pickups from the Yellow Canaries, they should be able to get them for a song.
