Liverpool Transfer News: Joe Cole Heads To Lille For Season

After many hours of speculation, out-of-favour England international/talentless fraud [delete as appropriate] Joe Cole turns out to be heading for France, which is at least a novel approach to finding oneself without any playing time in the Premier League. The midfielder is actually heading to Ligue 1 champions Lille, who are taking him off Liverpool's hands on a season-long loan signing, with both clubs now confirming the deal.

This is being lauded as a brave move for Cole, because so few English footballers succeed overseas and the’ll have to deal with a culture shift etc, but that’s kind of silly when you look at all of the foreign players coming into the Premier League, who never get lauded for their bravery in having deal with England. If not brave, this is interesting, and I suspect most are curious to see just how Cole does in his new surroundings. It’s probably a little bit late on to tap into that undeveloped talent of his, but you never know.
