I hate to be that guy, the one who constantly complains about awful refereeing. Yet, once again, I feel compelled to complain about another maddeningly awful refereeing decision that had a significant impact on the result of a match.
VIDEO: MLS Referee Jasen Anno Blows It
This time, it came in DC United's 3-3 tie with Toronto FC. And, no, I'm not even talking about the red card that United goalkeeper Bill Hamid was show in the 7th minute. This was the decision by Jasen Anno's inability to stop play while allowing for a substitution that led to Julian de Guzman's equalizer in the 69th minute. Check out the video:
Basically what happens here is Ethan White is trying to get on the field as a substitute for the injured Brandon McDonald. Anno waves him on, but fails to stop play while doing so. Toronto FC goes ahead and throws the ball in, and with players standing around, apparently waiting for play to be whistled dead, De Guzman lets rip.
