The Montreal Impact will become MLS’s 19th team next season. As part of that, they are giving their look an update, starting with their logo. All things considered, I have to say it looks pretty good, although this video is a bit over the top:

One thing I do appreciate about it is that everything there seems to have a purpose, from the four stars representing the four cultures that built the city to the fleur de lis that has been part of Montreal ever since its founding. It’s a sharp logo that recalls the best parts of Europeans crests, while not feeling like a complete knockoff.
Perhaps more importantly, it's hard to imagine fans having the kind of reaction the Portland Timbers received when they unveiled their revamped logo last year. That logo was eventually cleaned up as to make it look less cartoonish. This one, by comparison, instantly becomes one of the better crests in MLS.
