Tom Cleverley Injury Not As Severe As First Thought; Midfielder Out 4 Weeks

Fortunately for Manchester United, Tom Cleverley doesn't have a broken foot following a tackle by Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies in the early stages of United's 5-0 victory over the Trotters. Unfortunately for Manchester United, Cleverley didn't get away scot-free (the big protective boot and the crutches were a clue that there was a pretty serious injury involved): The young midfielder has ligament damage in his right foot and will be out for about four weeks.

Initially, there had been fears that Cleverley would miss significantly more time - after the match Sir Alex Ferguson had said he'd probably suffered a break and Cleverley himself had posted on Twitter that he was worried about missing the entire season, so it's not as bad as first thought. Still, missing another starter for several matches can't be good news for United, especially with the Champions League match starting up and a game against Chelsea next weekend to worry about as well.
