On Tuesday night in the CONCACAF Champions League, the Los Angeles Galaxy experienced about the worst 10 minutes a club could possibly have in a game. Leading 1-0 over Monarcas Morelia, goalkeeper Josh Saunders appeared to allow an equalizing goal on an absolute howler. The ball never actually crossed the line, but the linesman missed the call. Minutes later, Robbie Keane appeared to score a go-ahead goal for LA, but it was disallowed for offside. Like the Morelia goal, the linesman made an incorrect call. Photo evidence is after the jump.

Referees have a very hard job to do, but this was an extremely, extremely bad call. Keane is onside by at least two yards when the ball is played in this particular scenario, and there’s no excuse for a linesman who has been selected to officiate in a continental championship to get a call this horribly wrong.
Just minutes later, Morelia scored a stoppage time winner to defeat LA 2-1. The Galaxy could have and should have won the game. Rarely are the officials the sole reason for a club’s defeat, but this is a rare exception. The officials single-handedly cost LA the game. Plain and simple.
