Fredy Montero wasted little time keeping his recent hot streak going. The Seattle Sounders forward received a pass from Nate Jaqua inside the penalty area and fired a quick shot past the Herediano goalkeeper in the 3rd minute to grab an early 1-0 lead in their CONCACAF Champions League group stage match on Wednesday. It was the third straight game in which Montero has scored.
CONCACAF Champions League, Herediano Vs. Seattle Sounders: Fredy Montero Strikes Early
Montero appears to be in one of his goal-scoring runs once again. After going six games without a goal, Montero now has 10 goals across all competitions and his last three goals have come in the U.S. Open Cup, MLS play and CCL.
The Sounders put out a very strong lineup in their attempt to get out to a 3-0-0 start and put themselves in prime position to move onto the knockout stage. Among the regular starters for the Sounders to be in the lineup were Montero, Alvaro Fernandez, Lamar Neagle, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Kasey Keller.
