This just in. Cristiano Ronaldo thinks highly of himself. I know, a shocking revelation, but it's true, he does. He thinks really highly of himself and is convinced referees envy him. Yup, the Real Madrid star was asked about the performance of referee Svein Moen in his team's 1-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb and called it "shameful," but more interesting was why he thinks he doesn't get his fair share of the calls from referees.
Cristiano Ronaldo Says He’s Envied By Referees For Being Rich And Handsome
“I think it’s because I’m rich, handsome and a great player. They envy me.”
That’s probably it, Cristiano. It has nothing to do with your whining and diving, but it’s because referees envy you. It all makes sense now. Thank god we have you, Cristiano, to set the record straight for us.
To be fair, if anyone was going to be envied, it would probably be Cristiano Ronaldo. He says he’s rich? Cristiano does make €13 million per year in salary alone. Add in sponsorships and that number skyrockets. He says he’s handsome? Cristiano has dated a bevy of models and actresses so he’s got something working for him. He says he’s a great player? Anyone who has watched Cristiano knows he’s a mind-blowingly amazing player.
So yes, Cristiano, there are plenty of reasons to envy you. I don’t think the referees are thinking that when they don’t agree with your every opinion on the field though. Also, don’t talk about how great you are. It’s unbecoming.
