Mexico Vs. Poland, 2011 International Friendly: Halftime, Score Tied 1-1

El Tri didn't look their best to start their international friendly match against Poland, but thanks to a goal from 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez, Mexico has settled down and is starting to come into the game. The hosts were the slightly better side in the opening 30 minutes of the match, but Mexico took control of the last 15 minutes and should have momentum going into the second half.

Striker Pawel Brozek scored the opener for Poland in the 27th minute, tapping home a fairly easy finish after the Mexico defense fell asleep. Adrian Mierzejewski set up the goal with a nice cross from the right hand side, where Poland has been more effective. Mexico has concentrated on containing 'Kuba' Jakub Błaszczykowski on the left, opening up space on the right side, which Poland has taken advantage of on more than one occasion. The central defense pairing of Hector Moreno and 'Maza' Francisco Rodriguez has been solid, though, and Poland have only been able to score once despite a number of decent opportunities.

Mexico decided to step on the gas after going down and got back into the game quickly. Chicharito's goal came off of a corner kick, created by some nice play by Gerardo Torrado and Andres Guardado. The corner was taken short to Guardado, who put a cross towards the far post on the edge of the six yard box. Hernandez found the ball at his feet and scored a nice poacher's finish, netting for his country once again.

Jesus Molina and Sinha have stepped into the lineup over previous first choice players Israel Castro and Giovani dos Santos, who both started on the bench. Neither player has performed particularly well and Mexico has not kept the ball as well as they usually do as a result. Expect Gio and Jesus Zavala to see some time at some point in the second half.
