For 39 minutes, FC Dallas and UNAM Pumas played a shockingly dull match. With Pumas playing a first choice team for the first time all tournament and Dallas being one of the top sides, it was supposed to be a fun match up to add to the "is MLS closing the gap on Mexico" debate. Instead it was boring and lacked any action at all. Then, Jackson and Luis Fuentes got into a bit of a tussle that resulted in each being sent off and finally, there was action.

Jackson and Fuentes got tangled up while fighting for a ball. Fuentes was trying to shield Jackson away from the ball and didn’t like Jackson trying to go through his back, while Fuentes was reaching behind and holding Jackson. When the referee finally blew his whistle, Fuentes was about to fall over and in his stumble, blindly swung in the direction of Jackson. Then he went up to Jackson and headbutted Jackson in the face. Jackson responded with an awkward slap to Fuentes’ face and both were off.
Now that the match will be played 10 vs. 10, there is some hope for some action. The first half had none besides the Jackson/Fuentes tussle so maybe the red cards give the match a spark. It could definitely use one.
