Just in case you thought last week's win was a sign that the New York Red Bulls were poised to turn around their season, the first half of Wednesday's game against Real Salt Lake is a clear sign that it's not quite that easy. RSL scored two goals four minutes apart and head into halftime witha 3-0 lead.

That 3-0 lead is equal parts horrid defending and opportunistic scoring. RSL opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a Alvaro Saborio goal off a corner kick. Just four minutes later, Tim Ream attempted a square pass just in front of the penalty area that went right to Fabian Espindola, who wasted little time in putting it past Red Bulls goalkeeper Frank Rost. Espindola added a second goal in the 21st minute, getting behind Ream and Rafa Marquez on throughball Collen Warner, against beating Rost rather easily.
RSL scored on their first three shots and only took five shots all half. The Red Bulls equaled that total, and while Luke Rodgers and Thierry Henry both had decent chances, Nick Rimando was never really tested.
