Ralf Rangnick only just took over at Schalke 04 in March, but the manager of the Gelsenkirchen outfit has already been forced to resign from his post. Rangnick, who suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome, claimed that he was not able to adequately perform his job and that it was in the best interests of both the club and him personally. Rangnick had the following to say about leaving his post.

“Making the decision has been terribly difficult but my current energy levels are not enough to succeed and to push the club forward. This decision has been made in the best interests of the team and I wish them well for the rest of the season.”
Rangnick was hired by Schalke after the club parted ways with the successful but struggling Felix Magath, who had disagreements with the board. Rangnick was previously employed by Hoffenheim, who he had a period of great success with before resigning over a disagreement with the club board.
Schalke currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga table and will have to find a decent replacement quickly if they want to achieve their goal of qualifying for European competition.
