Bayer Leverkusen haven’t had the best run of games, losing 2-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before suffering a humiliating defeat at home against FC Koln. Things were hardly going to get better with a visit to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich, who are in absolutely imperious form to start this season’s Bundesliga campaign. Things have played out exactly as you’d expect.
Bayern Munich Vs. Bayer Leverkusen: Hosts 2-0 Up At Halftime
Bayern went ahead early through Thomas Mueller, who flicked home a driven cross by Franck Ribery in the 5th minute, and the onslaught continued with the home side's entire front line giving Leverkusen fits. It wasn't a forward who would score their second, however: It was Belgian centre back Daniel van Buyten, who opted to take a free kick from 35 yards out and - believe me, there's no better word for this - bosh it straight into Bernd Reno's top corner with the goalkeeper helpless to stop it. Lucky for him he didn't, or he'd have lost an arm.
Anyway, Bayern are comfortably in the lead, and if anyone’s going to score again in this match, it’ll probably be them. Big surprise, eh? Still, this Leverkusen side is decent, and Bayern are ripping them apart - it’s another really impressive performance.
