Bayer Leverkusen never had much hope of getting a result against an in-form and top of the league Bayern Munich side at the Allianz Arena, and any hope they did have was dashed rather quickly thanks to a pair of first half goals by Thomas Muller and Daniel van Buyten. The former was a tap-in from very close range while the latter was a thunderbolt of a free kick from more than 30 yards out.
Bayern Munich Vs. Bayer Leverkusen: Hosts Make Short Work Of Leverkusen, Win 3-0
To their credit, Bayer Leverkusen staged something of a fightback after halftime. Certainly, Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer was involved more often in the second half, and Leverkusen had a few good chances to break through the home defence. That said, Bayern were still a major threat whenever they dashed forward, and only luck kept the visitors from going further behind. That luck ran out in the last minute, when substitute Arjen Robben dashed onto a through ball and slipped home past Bernd Reno to make it 3-0. They didn't bother with injury time.
