While Faryd Mondragon may say that he’s out 2-4 weeks with a broken index finger, the Philadelphia Union are not quite ready to give their own prognosis. Faryd Mondragon Injury Update: Philadelphia Union Say Return Date Still Unclear
Mondragon was hurt during the first half of Saturday's game against Real Salt Lake and was replaced at halftime by 20-year-old rookie Zac MacMath. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft looked solid in goal, saving three shots and not allowing a score. The performance was praised by Union goalkeeping coordinator Rob Vartughian:
“He did great for the first time stepping on the field in a regular season game,” Vartughian said on Monday. “He was calm, his presence was good he made a couple of good decisions, he had a couple of really good plays and we were happy with him.”
