I wonder how the Philadelphia Union are feeling about trading away Jordan Harvey, a key piece to their back line. Ever since their defense has been shaky. It has never been as bad as it is tonight though. With rookie Zac MacMath in goal for the injured Faryd Mondragon, the Union needed a strong performance from their defense, but instead they got their worst. The New England Revolution torched them for four goals in the first half and none we MacMath's fault as the Union defense crumbled as they fell behind 4-1 at the break.
Philadelphia Union Vs. New England Revolution: Revs Hammering Union 4-1 At Halftime
The Union may have had a possession advantage and looked the better side when they were on the ball, but they looked terrible whenever they didn't have the ball. it's what allowed A.J. Soares to get free on a corner kick for their first goal. It's what gave New England a penalty that Rajko Lekic finished for a second goal and the defense just watched as Monsef Zerka got free for an open header to make it 3-0.
Roger Torres tried to get the Union back in the match with a goal that cut the Revs' lead to 3-1, but Philadelphia didn't close down Benny Feilhaber so he let a long drive go that hit pay dirt to stretch that lead out to 4-1. The Revs are an awful team, but the Union are out-awfulling (that's a real word, look it up) them right now. It's ugly at PPL Park for the home side as they look set to go a seventh match without a win.
