When the Chicago Fire were first rumored to be looking at signing former Mexican star Pavel Pardo, it was greeted with a fair amount of skepticism. He quickly put any concerns to rest, turning in some inspired performances and helping lead the Fire to a 7-2-1 finish. Now, the 35-year-old has re-signed with the Fire.
Pavel Pardo Re-Signs With Chicago Fire
Pavel Pardo will stay in MLS after re-signing with the Chicago Fire.
“Pavel helped kick-start our turnaround at the end of last season,” Fire coach Frank Klopas said in a team release. “He provides tremendous experience for us in the middle of the park, serves as a great example for our younger players and plays for the badge every time he steps on the field.”
Pardo, who is the second most capped player in Mexican national team history, came to the Fire after a career which had seen him play in Germany and directly after a second stint with Mexican giant America. In 14 matches, he contributed a goal and five assists and generally helped stabilize the midfield.
