Chelsea Transfer Rumors: Didier Drogba To Stay Until The Summer

Despite rumors that Didier Drogba would leave in January to join former teammate Nicolas Anelka at Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, it seems the forward is committed to staying with Chelsea -- until June, that is. Drogba's contract with the Blues is up in the summer, leaving him free to pursue whichever rich clubs wave the right amount of money in his face, which, oddly enough, no longer means Roman Abramovich. Remember the good ol' days, when Chelsea were the only ones throwing money around?

The news makes one wonder -- what was the reaction of Fernando Torres? With the Spaniard finally getting starts in the Premier League, he may have been pumped about Drogba leaving, thinking he may start racking up goals now. But, really, it's not Drogba that keeps Torres from getting the ball in the back of the net, but rather pure unluckiness. Hanging on to Drogs for the rest of the season won't hurt Torres, and it's certainly not going to hurt Chelsea.
