QPR Complete Nedum Onuoha Transfer

Queens Park Rangers have completed the capture of Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha as Mark Hughes continues his quest to upgrade his back line.

Queens Park Rangers have managed to add yet another defender in their quest to stave off relegation back into the Championship - Manchester City's Nedum Onuoha has joined the cause after agreeing to personal terms with the West London club, moving in a £3M deal.

Onuoha's familiar with new QPR manager Mark Hughes, having served under the former Blackburn and Fulham boss during Huges's tenure in charge at the Eastlands, and that appears to be the convincing factor in the defender abandoning a cushy life amongst the City reserves to join a team currently sitting in the relegation zone:

This was the right time for me to join a club like QPR. The manager obviously played a massive factor in my decision to come here. I’ve worked with him before and he always wants players around him who are open and honest.

He wouldn’t have come here if he didn’t believe that there was a squad of players here that can achieve the goals he has. The ambition of the owners was really appealing. This is my club now and I’ll give everything to help us succeed.

Just how the stumbling block of Onuoha’s £60,000 per week wages was overcome is currently a bit of a mystery, but one would hope that the 25-year-old would take a paycut in order to actually play football. Minutes on the pitch have been difficult for him to come by recently following his return from a loan spell at Sunderland last season.
