Moussa Sow Moves To Fenerbache

Senegal striker Moussa Sow has joined Fenerbache from Lille.

All eyes are on Lille forward Eden Hazard in this transfer window, but it’s Moussa Sow, rather than the Belgian star, who’s first out of the defending Ligue 1 champions. His destination? Turkey. The Senegalese striker, whose 25 goals last season led the league, has reportedly joined Fenerbache for a fee of around €13M. It’s an odd move for Lille, who probably can’t afford to be losing key players while they’re still in the mix for a Champions League spot, but Sow’s comments following the transfer indicate that he’s been wanting out for some time:

There were of course a lot of teams interested but this was the club I really wanted to join. I’m very happy. As soon as I arrived I was very happy to see the excitement here. I’m looking forward to playing in front of Fenerbahce fans.

The replacement for Sow - who has apparently received a four and a half year deal worth 60,000 per week - has already arrived at Lille: Nolan Roux signed from Brest for €8M earlier this week. Roux has scored six goals with one assist in nineteen appearances this year, compared to Sow ‘s nine and three in 21.
