Juventus have officially announced the signing of Uruguayan defender Martin Caceres from Sevilla, eighteen months after he struggled in a year-long audition with the Serie A side. The deal's been in the works for a few days, but Caceres has now passed his medical and been presented as a Juventus player:
Juventus Announce Martin Caceres Signing
Technically, this is a season-long loan deal with a mandatory option to buy at the end, which is for all intents and purposes a sale with a contract re-negotation for Caceres this summer. While Juve might not necessarily have needed a shakeup in defence - they're undefeated and have conceded a league-low twelve goals - they've very low on depth, are carrying a passenger in Giorgio Chiellini and Caceres has the talent to make this worthwhile. If the rumoured eventual fee of €9.5M is anything like correct, it looks like the Turin side have gotten themselves a bargain here.
