Hannover 96 announced today that they have brought in Mame Biram Diouf from Manchester United on a permanent transfer. The fee is believed to be less than €2 million. The deal is until June 2014.

The Senegalese forward leaves Manchester for Hannover after just two years in England.
Diouf, 24, was an excellent player for Norwegian club Molde FK where he caught the eye of Manchester United scouts. He joined the club in England in January 2010. He was not able to break into the United first team and spent the entire 2010-2011 season on loan with Blackburn Rovers.
He has rarely seen the pitch in a Manchester United shirt, and the move to Hannover will hopefully bring him more opportunities. He will add depth to the forward corps of Mohammed Abdellaoue, Jan Schlaudraff, and Didier Ya Konan. the latter of the three seems to have fallen out with manager Mirko Slomka, so the opportunity to perform should be there for Diouf.
“I’m happy to be bringing in Mame Diouf,” Slomka said. “He brings an alternative for our attack. We have to focus on integrating him quickly in order for him to help us in the Bundesliga and Europa League.”
