Tottenham Hotspur Vs. West Bromwich Albion, 2012 Premier League: Halftime, Spurs Finding It Difficult

Despite having an extra day to recover, Tottenham are having problems breaking down a resolute West Bromwich Albion side. Despite 74% possession, 10 shots and 10 corners (Albion have 1 and 2 respectively), Ben Foster hasn’t had to pick the ball out of his net yet. Spurs are missing Scott Parker and Aaron Lennon, and Sandro went off injured after 30 minutes, but they should still have had enough to score against an Albion side missing Chris Brunt, Jonas Olsson and Shane Long, and now Jerome Thomas. They still might find a way through, but Roy Hodgson will remember the way his team played against Manchester City, and will hope they do more of the same against Spurs in the second half. If Spurs continue to get frustrated and pour more forward, there could be space for Peter Odemwingie to exploit on the counter attack, and although Albion are missing Chris Brunt, in Graham Dorrans they have another excellent passer of the ball.

Harry Redknapp will still expect his side to score, but there’s not much on the bench to change things; Giovani Dos Santos is untrusted, and Roman Pavlyuchenko isn’t that different from Emmanuel Adebayor.
