Thiago Motta Joins Paris Saint-Germain

Inter Milan have confirmed the sale of Italy international Thiago Motta to Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain, the 29-year-old midfielder moving on after two and a half seasons with the club which included Inter's famous Champions League victory over Bayern Munich. Motta, a product of Barcelona's youth system, will now join Carlo Ancelotti as part of Leonadro's Parisian revolution as the former Inter boss, backed by quite a lot of financial power from the club's Qatari ownership, attempts to transform PSG into a top European team.

With the fee reported to be around 10M, this is chump change for PSG, who have Motta on a two and a half year deal with an option for a third, but the move will probably mean that the midfield will have to be whittled down in summer. Inter will appreciate the windfall, although they might find that Motta is more difficult to replace than they’d first imagined - he’s an incredibly under-appreciated part of that team’s success.
