Major League Soccer has seen this and has really tried to turn their SuperDraft into an event.
The first round is now televised. The top players get all dressed up in suits and pose for pictures with the commissioner. The soccer-focused media even gets joins in the fun, devoting precious energy to what is considered the biggest offseason event of the year.

Scouting for the 2012 MLS SuperDraft will begin in ernest now that full combine rosters have been finalized (click here for full roster). Among the latest additions to the previously announced list of players are four additions to the Generation Adidas class, seven internationals and two more college seniors.
Confirming earlier reports, Dom Dwyer, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Enzo Martinez and Tyler Polak were all added to the the 2012 Generation Adidas class. That brings the class to nine players, which keeps it a similar size to past years.

It isn’t quite official, but all indications are that Major League Soccer has finalized the 2012 Generation Adidas class just about a week before the SuperDraft. Four more players were added to the list on Thursday, bringing the total to nine, according to Soccer by Ives.
The final four players to be added are Enzo Martinez (North Carolina), Dom Dwyer (South Florida), Tyler Polak (Creighton) and Andrew Jean-Baptiste (UConn). They join the five players who had previously signed: Andrew Wenger (Duke), Darren Mattocks (Akron), Kelyn Rowe (UCLA), Chandler Hoffman (UCLA) and Sam Garza (UCSB).
