Thierry Henry Finalizes Loan Deal with Arsenal

Thierry Henry's return to Arsenal is at last official. The New York Red Bulls striker today signed a short-term deal with the Gunners that will have join Arsene Wenger's side until he returns to MLS in late February.

Henry expressed his excitement about the loan in a report on Arsenal’s official website.

“Arsenal and me has always been a love story, with some bad days. Hopefully people agree with me that there were more good days than bad, but I just love the Club.”

“They say love is blind, but it is difficult for me to say no to Arsenal.”

The Gunners are in need of some depth in the attack with Marouane Chamakh set to leave for the African Nations Cup tournament. Henry is Arsenal's record goalscorer and left in 2007 for Barcelona, before joining the Red Bulls in 2010.

The news comes on the heels of Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez both going on short term loans in Europe during the off-season. The Red Bulls will now hold their breath for the next two months and hope that Henry's European adventure ends better than the Gonzalez's did.

Henry will join Arsenal immediately and could play this weekend in the Gunner’s FA Cup draw against Leeds United. It seems like a great deal for Arsenal, but you have to wonder how good of a deal it is for the Red Bulls who seem to have everything to lose from the loan and nothing to gain.
