Genoa Vs AS Roma, Preview: Can The Grifone Outgun The Giallorossi?

The Roma roadshow moves to the Marassi stadium to bring the curtain down on Week 8.

All questions heading into this game surround the respective starting lineups. Will Daniele De Rossi be brought back into the fold and will Marco Borriello be fit to face his former club?

De Rossi has allegedly buried the hatchet with coach Zdenek Zeman, after a dressing room spat led to the midfielder being dropped for the 2-0 win against Atalanta.

After two sublime performances for his country during the international break, a recall to the heart of the Giallorossi midfield seems like a no-brainer. But, this is Zeman we’re talking about. Just when you think you have all the answers, he changes the questions.

The same case could be argued for Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, but a reckless Red card picked up for violent conduct against Denmark, could keep him on the Roma bench.

Borriello has been struggling with muscle fatigue, but has trained with the squad and is rated at 99% to start. The deadline day signing has re-discovered his form and scoring touch in Genoa and is the club's top scorer.

Genoa have drawn their last three, while Roma have been hit and miss on their travels thus far, outclassing Inter, then getting thrashed at Juventus.

History tends to favour the home side in this fixture. Genoa have won the last two - including a 2-1 victory last season, while Roma have won the last three at the Stadio Olimpico. Genoa boosted morale during the international break with a barbecue and game of cards. Come Sunday evening they’ll be hoping to have some aces up their sleeves and not become the jokers of the pack.
