    Southampton vs. Tottenham: Preview

    Clive Rose

One interesting statistic to watch is that Tottenham have scored more of their goals than any other club in the second half, whereas Southampton have conceded more than any other club in the second half. That in mind, Saints fans shouldn’t be celebrating too early if they do take the lead. Although with Southampton having been forced to come from behind to earn all of their points this season, they will be used to being in the reverse position too.

Newcastle vs. West Brom: Match preview

The hosts, however, are in poor form, having won just one of their last seven Premier League matches. Most of those have been difficult games, and Newcastle have played well, but nonetheless, they must arrest their dip in form before it becomes a real problem. West Brom may prove good opponents, as despite their overachievement so far this season, they still tend to struggle away from home.

Carlos Tevez fires Man City to win against Swans

    Clive Brunskill

The hosts began the brighter in possession, but they were rather muted. That’s not a huge shock in light of the spanking they were given in midweek, but the passing was nowhere near as tight as we’d expect even during an off-key display from the defending champions, and it was actually Swansea who had the better of the chances in the first half.

Swansea hadn’t just conceded a goal -- they’d also lost their keeper. Vorm had attempted to block that Tevez effort with a despairing and utterly, utterly futile dive and he’s paid the price with what looked suspiciously like a torn groin. The 29-year-old was in no state to continue, and Gerhard Trammel had to be summoned off the bench to replace him.

Canaries strike back to earn point against Villa

    Scott Heavey

Canaries boss Chris Hughton will be pleased that his side are beginning to show their best form, and they started the brighter of the two teams in a game that quickly became a scrappy midfield battle. Chances were at a premium for either side, although Villa struggled to even get into the final third, let alone create a clear-cut chance.

Norwich should have won all three points at the death, when a cross from the left found Ryan Bennett unmarked in the Villa area, but not realising the time he had, the forward met it first time and skied the chance. At the final whistle, boos erupted around the stadium. and Paul Lambert will have a huge amount of pressure placed on him after failing to defeat his former club. Both bosses appear to be heading in different directions, with Lambert struggling to find cohesion at Villa or give the impression that his future plan is one worth sticking to, but his opposite number Chris Hughton will be delighted. A deserved point from a good performance which, combined with last weekend’s result, shows that the Canaries are more than capable of staying up this year if they can find their consistency.
