Kevin Mirallas has left Everton's match against Sunderland in the 27th minute after picking up an apparent hamstring injury. The Belgian was able to walk off the pitch under his own power, but we clearly hobbled. Mirallas was just getting back to full fitness after an ankle injury received in the Merseyside Derby thanks to a kick from Luis Suarez.
Everton’s Kevin Mirallas leaves match with apparent hamstring injury
Mirallas has been one of Everton's best players this season and a big part of their attack. David Moyes will be hoping that it's not a serious injury and he'll have his player back sooner rather than later. Everton can ill afford a long term injury with their bench already thin thanks to their always near skint financial situation.
Steven Naismith, who joined Everton from Rangers in the summer, replaced Mirallas in the lineup. While the Scottish forward is a serviceable player, he lacks Mirallas creative flair and ability to stretch and challenge a defense.
Everton and Sunderland remain scoreless with less than ten minutes until halftime.
