Schalke scored twice in the second half to overcome an early deficit to edge Werder Bremen 2-1. They keep pace with Bayern Munich and remain 7 points behind them.

Bremen jumped out to a lead in the 16th minute thanks to Aaron Hunt's sixth goal of the season. Zlatko Junuzovic received a pass from Eljero Elia and then played Hunt in on goal. The midfielder's left footed shot to the far post was out of the reach of Lars Unnerstall and gave Bremen the early 1-0 lead.

The visitors almost scored twice after the 30th minute, but Sokratis Papastathopoulos and and Kevin De Bruyne both struck the crossbar.

Schalke finally got on the score sheet in the 60th minute thanks to old reliable --- The Set Piece. Christian Fuchs swung in a free kick, and Roman Neustädter headed the ball back across the face of goal over the head of Sebastian Mielitz and into the back of the net.

They took the lead ten minutes later. Jermaine Jones laid the ball off to Julian Draxler, and the midfielder ripped a shot past Mielitz to make it 2-1. Schalke would've added a few more goals as the match wound to it's conclusion, but Mielitz made several great saves to keep his side in the game.
