Andriy Shevchenko has been offered the role of Ukraine manager, the FA have confirmed.

Ukraine have been without a manager since Oleg Blokhin returned to take charge of Dynamo Kiev, and the Ukrainian FA released a statement confirming that the former Dynamo, Milan and Chelsea striker had been offered the role, saying: “FFU president Anatoliy Konkov has decided to invite Andriy Shevchenko to take the head coach post.”
The 36-year-old retired at the end of Euro 2012, and had previously spoken of his desire to enter politics, but will now be faced with an attractive offer, and Konkov does not think his lack of previous experience will hinder him: "Remember - Pep Guardiola achieved incredible results in a few years. I'm sure Shevchenko also be able to conquer great football countries as head coach of this country.
“He has enough experience and character. The federation, in turn, will ensure to give him all the help he needs with the national team.”
If he does accept, Shevchenko will have an uphill battle if he hopes to guide his country to qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil - Ukraine sit second bottom of their group after losing to Montenegro and drawing with Moldova.
