UEFA Champions League: Chelsea, Juventus fighting for one place?

Group E of the UEFA Champions League might end up more about Tuesday’s matches than the final matchday. Chelsea and Juventus play the biggest match of the day by far.

Mike Hewitt

In the first round of Champions League group stage play, Chelsea and Juventus commanded all of the attention for their match at Stamford Bridge, due to the relatively low level of intrigue in other matches. There's plenty of decent football to watch on Tuesday, but given their current situations, they dominate the schedule even more for their return fixture in Turin. With Shakhtar Donestk up against Nordsjaelland before returning home to face Juventus, the Old Lady is in serious need of a victory.

Barcelona face a tough trip to Russia early on in the day, though they shouldn't be too adversely affected by a bad result. Other than Chelsea-Juventus, the next best match of the day takes place at the Mestalla, where Valencia and Bayern Munich face off for the top spot in Group F. Manchester United have a tough match in Turkey, but Alex Ferguson is likely to make a number of changes from the team he played on the weekend, and will not field his best XI.
