Arsenal vs. Montpellier 2012: Preview and TV Schedule

The Gunners won’t see Montpellier as much more than a speedbump ahead of their critical clash with Olympiacos on matchday six.

Arsenal are flying high after hammering Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby over the weekend, but they’ll need to keep that form going at the Emirates Stadium when they host Monpellier in a crucial UEFA Champions League match. The Gunners are just a point ahead of Olympiacos in Group B after emerging from their doubleheader against Schalke 04 with a home loss and then a 2-2 away draw, which means that any more poor results will put them in serious trouble.

Fortunately, Montpellier are pretty good fodder for picking up wins. So far, the defending Ligue 1 champions have managed just one draw in their Champions League game, and a pair of meltdowns against Olympicos have left the French side in a hugely sorry state. Unless something highly improbably happens here, they’re not even going to make the Europa League -- they’d have to beat Arsenal in London and then Schalke at the Stade de la Mosson and hope Olympiacos lose out. Not happening, despite their credible performance the first time these two teams met this year.

Arsenal injuries and suspensions

Out: Theo Walcott (shoulder), Andre Santos (groin). In doubt: N/A.

Montpellier injuries and suspensions

Out: Souleymane Camara (suspended), John Utaka (thigh), Hilton (groin), Karim Ait-Fana (knee). In doubt: Garry Bocaly (hip), Cyril Jeunechamp (disciplinary).

Injuries and disciplinary problems aren’t helping Montpellier’s cause here. Camara’s suspension will hurt, and every team could do with a bit of John Utkaka. Also, Cyril Jeunechamp isn’t officiallys suspended, but he did punch a journalist in the face last week so he’ll probably sit a few matches out. Keep on living that dream, Cyril.

Date/Time: Wednesday, Nov. 21. 7:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. EST.

Venue: Emirates Stadium, London, England.

TV information: Sky Sports 4 (UK), beIN Sport 1 (France), Fox Soccer Plus (USA)
