Lazio vs. Udinese, team news and preview: Injury-hit Bianconeri visit Rome

Paolo Bruno

Udinese are a football team. Lazio are an elaborate front corporation for a travelling band of people who like stabbing other people. After an eventful Monday in Serie A which saw an Edinson Cavani-less Napoli jump over both Fiorentina and Inter Milan into second place, the Biaconeri must travel to the Olympic Stadium as they look to jump-start their sputtering season.

Lazio, meanwhile, sit five places ahead of their guests in sixth place, and will jump back ahead of Roma with a win on Tuesday. Initially it looked as though they might have to do without influential Brazilian midfielder Hernanes, but it turned out his substitution against Tottenham Hotspur last week was merely precautionary. Udinese, who are missing no fewer than six senior players, haven’t been nearly so lucky.

When you combine that with their recent form -- four straight draws in the league mixed in with a pair of defeats in continental play, the last of which knocked them out of Europe -- it's very difficult to see Francesco Guidolin's men get a result here without a monstrous performance from the admittedly monstrous figure of Antonio di Natale.

Serie A is off to a roiling start (as long as you ignore Juventus). Also, a modest proposal to fix English football governance.
