While a draw away to Sunderland isn’t a bad result for Queens Park Rangers, new manager Harry Redknapp will be a bit disappointed that his team weren’t able to take all three points. They were the more assertive side throughout the match, but some decent defending by the Black Cats and a solid performance in goal by Simon Mignolet kept the match a 0-0 draw. It’s Sunderland’s seventh draw of the season, and their third 0-0.

QPR’s best sequence came near the end of the first half, when they had four shots in quick succession. Mignolet made a solid save on a low shot by Jamie Mackie in the 38th minute, and his defense was unable to clear. Two subsequent shots by Adel Taarabt and a shot by Djibril Cisse all hit Sunderland defenders before they could get rid of the danger.
Three minutes later, Sunderland had their best chance of the match, through a shot by Steven Fletcher. He was set up with a great through ball by Adam Johnson and put the ball on frame from a narrow angle, but Julio Cesar got into a good position and easily parried away.
That three-minute sequence was far and away the most entertaining of the match. Neither team generated anything more than a half-chance in a dour second half, and a draw was a fair result.
