Took long enough. Despite a slight improvement in Arsenal's attack in the second half, their defending has remained laughable, and Manchester United have finally made it 2-0 via a header from the not-so-towering figure of Patrice Evra. It all stemmed from Robin van Persie springing completely clear of the Gunners' back line. The former Arsenal striker, seemingly incredulous that he was not flagged offside, was thwarted by Vito Mannone, but the Arsenal goalkeeper had to tip the shot behind for a corner.
Manchester United vs. Arsenal: Evra doubles lead; Wilshere sent off
And from that corner, the visitors decided not to mark anyone, leaving United free to deposit the ball onto Evra's head. That nobody picked him up was utterly bizarre, but the weirdness of the situation didn't stop the left back from planting a firm effort into the back of the net. Seconds later, Jack Wilshere, already booked for a a foul on Tom Cleverley, scythed down Evra for no apparent reason and saw red for his troubles. This game is not going so well for Arsenal.
